To all my co workers at the Postal Service

I've been on the job for over 24 years and times have never been as difficult as they are now. We have all (myself included) taken the job for granted for many years. a new day has come and we can no longer assume that we will always have a job to come to the next day. Look around. Jobs have been lost my better and more qualified people than us. These are people with true technical and engineering skills. We can no longer be so care free about our jobs. Its really scary out there and we (USPS) don't no where we are going to be in a few years.
Wake up co workers!! We need to do everything and anything in our power to give customers the best possible service that we can give them without hesitation.
The unfortunate things I see going on in my facility saddens me. Because I know that it can be a lot better than what it is. I will definitely do my part. I need those in management positions to step up and employ my co workers that we will all be out of job if we don't improve the service that we a giving our customers.
Speaking of management. A message to those that this applies to. Please dig way deep down inside yourself and treat individuals with respect and decency. It will benefit us all in the long run. Negative or bad behavior regardless who is right or wrong never solved anything.

The President

President Obama has been speaking on his new health care program the past couple of weeks and it has not been very popular. I agree its going to hurt a lot of people but, I do think in the long wrong it will benefit everybody. Do I want to help pay for health care for the poor and unemployed, no, not really but in the long run if everybody will benefit from this sacrifice then yes, I will. Will I immediately be happy with the changes in health care, no. I will of course live with it. The President is attempting to come up with a plan. So, I'm going to have some faith and believe that things will get better.
No one said that whatever the solution is to the problems with health care would be easy. We do have to go through more hard times to get to where we need to be.
To be perfectly honest, I wasn't that pleased with my health care coverage before President Obama took office, so the thought of things getting worse before they get better sort of makes by stomach hurt.
I truly think that even though a lot of us may not be to happy with the President right now. He's here and he's what we have so why not support him and believe in him and try to hang in there with him.
Its like having a Ford Focus and dreaming about a Cadillac Escalade. As long as that Ford gets me to where I need to go, I'm happy. Maybe the Cadillac will be waiting for me when I get there.

Can hardly wait to see the Joan Rivers roast on August 9th

Wow! I am such a huge fan of Joan Rivers and have been for many years. Quite frankly she is a little scary these days. Her face is literally like a mask. It doesn't move. I think she is a fantastic comic and deserves a lot of respect she has definitely paid her dues. She speaks her mind about anything she wants to. That is brave. She is still very relevant today. The only notable names coming up on her roast are Carl Reiner. Kathy Griffin as the roast master. The Queen of Mean Lisa Lampanelli was invited as a roaster but said if she could not be the roast master it wasn't worth it for her to show up. I guess Gilbert Gottfried could be considered a big name. I think he is just annoying so he doesn't get my vote.
If your a fan of raw radio then you'll know who Robin Quivers of the Howard Stern Show is. She's not a comic but she was a roaster. I heard a little of her roast. She probably should have stayed home.
Joan has been insulting people for years. For some reason at her roast, Joan made it clear that her daughter Melissa was off limits. That really wasn't fair because no one has been off limits to her for a very long time.

The story of a man who just wants to help save his city

There is a man who was raised in the City of Detroit. As a young boy of 3 his mother was murdered and then 4 years later his dad committed suicide because he could not find a job and could no longer take care of his family. He was ultimately raised by his Grandmother who took care of him on her monthly social security check.
He could have easily went down a really bad road in life. He ended up going to college and getting a degree in journalism. For the past several years he had worked as a TV anchorman on a local station and also worked as a newsman on a local radio station. He was paid very well for both jobs.
This past year he resigned from both jobs to run for City Council in the City of Detroit. This is a huge sacrifice because if he wins the seat he will not start the job until January 2010. Meanwhile he has no viable income until then. I'm sure he has a savings but, to give up a very lucrative career for something that you could win or lose is amazing. This man believes in his city and wants to do everything in his power to help make it better for everyone around him.
BRAVO! Charles Pugh you are a delight.

Sleeping with someone on the first date can be a problem

These days most people choose to search for a date on the Internet. This can be both good and bad it depends on what your looking for.
If you're just looking to get laid then its pretty simple. You hit it and then you quit it. Simple right?
On the other hand if you're looking for a relationship. It gets much more complicated.
What I have learned the past year or so is that if you make the mistake of sleeping with an Internet date on the first date it may do more damage than good. I know this sounds old fashioned but, it can only help the relationship if you get to know each other a little better before you sleep together. In my case, I am looking for a relationship. I met someone on line and we chatted. We seemed to get along really great. We had our first meeting and again we were getting along good. Before you sleep with someone, there really aren't many expectations. After you sleep with someone the expectations are phenomenal. For example: Before you have sex and you don't speak for a couple of days, no big deal. After you have sex and you don't speak for a couple of days, the conversation might go like this "Why didn't you call me?" or "I called you and you didn't answer". In other words you're expected to talk to each other on a regular basis after sex occurs.
In my case I'm the sucker this time. Because I met a lady that I'm really not that attracted to because she's a little heavy and had varicose veins which really turns me off. But, for some reason I really want to spend more time with her. Every time I call and she doesn't answer, I'm a little angry. This is really out of character for me, so I've decided to take a step back from the situation. Yes, we did sleep together on the first date and the sex was OK but then again it was really dark so I couldn't see the things that I didn't want to see. I'm not saying that I'm a show stopper but, hey, you like what you like right? I'm sure there are things about me that people would not be attracted to and I understand that.
If we would not have slept together so soon I wouldn't have been concerned if she didn't answer when I called. Now that we have, I expect her to be available to me when I want to contact her. You may be thinking, she doesn't like me and she's blowing me off. You might be right. After 3 weeks of speaking almost every day and then suddenly not speaking for 4 days. Clearly something is up. So for the sake of my heart I will take a giant step back and move on.

Prince-Lotus Flower

The latest CD by Prince has had poor sales. That's unfortunate because the music I thought was pretty good. I'm only one person though. After so many years I finally got to hear some of his guitar work and I must say it was amazing. The 2 songs "Crimson and Clover" and "Dreamer" are very under appreciated and should be listened to because its as good as some of the greats. Unfortunately for Prince its getting little to no air play so very few people are aware of his work. That's really too bad because its worth listening too.
I've ofter heard of the things he has gone through with the record companies in the past but, maybe he should reconsider because without the proper promoting and marketing people are just not going to hear the music. Radio is a big if not the biggest part of getting the music heard.
